What time standard is used by the Fidelity platform?

In this article, you will learn about the UTC time standard and how to convert it to your local time.

What does UTC mean?

UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the primary time standard used worldwide. It acts as a universal reference point that does not change and serves as the baseline from which all local time zones are calculated.

Why is the time in Fidelity reports displayed in UTC?

Because our platform is used across multiple countries and time zones, the UTC standard ensures consistency and accurate data tracking for all clients globally.

How can I convert UTC to my local time zone?

The easiest and most accurate way to convert the time—without worrying about daylight saving time shifts—is to use an online time zone converter or your smartphone's clock app. You can search Google for "UTC to [Insert your country/city]" to get the exact time difference right now.

You can also search Google directly for your country's current time offset (for example, searching "UTC time in Chile"). Then, simply apply that offset to the UTC time shown on your report.

Example:

  • Report time: 18:35 UTC
  • Time zone offset (Chile): UTC-3 (or UTC-4 depending on the time of year)
  • Calculation: 18:35 - 3 hours = 15:35 local time
